My One Word for 2024

As the dawn of a new year arrives, many of us embark on a quest for personal growth, setting resolutions and intentions that promise a brighter and more fulfilling future. In the tapestry of my aspirations for 2024, one word emerged as the guiding star of my journey: "Habits." In this blog post, I unravel the reasons behind choosing habits as my overarching theme for the year and explore the profound impact it can have on my life. The Power of Consistency: Habits, by their very nature, are a testament to the power of consistency. I've come to realize that the small, seemingly inconsequential actions we repeat daily are the building blocks of the life we lead. Whether it's the discipline of a morning routine, the commitment to regular exercise, or the dedication to lifelong learning, habits are the architects of lasting change. Self-Reflection and Intentionality: Picking habits as my theme for 2024 signifies a commitment to self-reflection and intentionality. It'...

Easy Homemade Apple Sauce

Image
I love fall in Roswell, Georgia!  The days are warm, the nights are cool and there is so much to see a do.  Pumpkin patches, apple picking, corn mazes and hay rides.  These were all things on my daughters Fall Bucket List.  Lexi's Bucket List also included making apple sauce.  I love making apple sauce with fresh picked apples from Ellijay, but with 2 kids--one a toddler, the thought of picking apples…. Enter the Farmers Market!  Fresh apples AND I can make smaller batches, which means no canning! It also means my daughter who LOVES to cook (she has her own you tube channel!!!) gets to cook every week!  Today I’m going to share our 2021 recipe for Apple Sauce.  It’s easy.  It’s fast.  It has no added sweeteners.  And we use the instant pot!  My old recipe is buried somewhere in a box in the storage unit and it tasted like apple pie filling!  It contained an array of spices and apples dumped in a crock pot to cook for sever...

A New Season...

Image
Are you familiar with Hygee?  Am I the only one who has been living under a rock and totally missed this concept?  Recently DoTerra introduced their new products for 2021.  I was lucky enough to be able to purchase one of the kits containing all of the new products...  One of the items in there was an oil blend called Hygee—one that my entire family loves!  This word was completely new to me, so I did what most people do these days and searched Google.  And I was amazed.  Hygee is a Danish term or concept that cannot be translated into a single English word.  Instead it’s a word that encompasses a feeling of cozy contentment and wellbeing through enjoying the simple things in love.   As we enter into a new season, this word resonated with me.  It sparked some joy and curiosity.  This weekend saw the first cool crisp nights, the first chili of the season, and my youngest went pull-up free, and my oldest spent the wee...

Face Mask driving you CRAZY?????

Image
Face Masks are becoming a new normal.  More and more people are choosing (or have to) wear them and many stores are requiring customers wear them.   I am also seeing people touch their face masks, trying to pull it down out of their eyes.   If you keep touching your face mask, then anything on your fingertips will be transferred to the mask.   Here is a quick tip to keep your mask out of your eyes so you don't need to touch it!  In health,  Dr. Kristen

Care More's Tips For Choosing the Right Backpack

Hi parents!   It's back to school time! While some of you are celebrating & throwing a 'Yea, finally!' party some of you may be missing the kids & feeling the tug on the heartstrings, and they  haven't  even  started  school yet... (in Roswell that is!)   No matter how you're reacting to the end of summer and start of school, in most homes it means it's time to hit the stores for some Back to School shopping.  Regardless of the age of your kids (this holds true for those headed off to High School and College) buying a new backpack is probably on the list. While most race over and pick a backpack based on color and brand, with little thought to the importance of choosing the 'right' backpack.  The 'wrong' backpack can lead to poor posture with rounded shoulders or forward head carriage, scoliosis, & a myriad of symptoms ranging from neck & shoulder pain, headaches, to numbness in the hands or arms. These issues can ...

Sleep and Health

I was recently asked to write an article for a magazine--and when I finished I wanted to share it with more people.  I asked Dr. K and she suggested I post it on her blog...  So here it is!  Not only is this my first guest Blog Post, but it's my first blog EVER!!!!!  Please let me know what you think! Have a specific question?  Let me know and I will be happy to answer--and who knows, maybe it will lead to another Blog! Dr. Claire Sleep…. Some people fall asleep before their head hits the pillow, for others sleep is elusive, bed time is dreaded and they would give anything for a good night’s sleep. Getting the right amount of sleep plays a vital role in health and wellness for people of all ages.   Research shows ‘lack of sleep’ manifests itself in a host of serious conditions, impacting physical and mental performance, resistance to illness and our ability to interact well with others.  Whether in the workplace, at home, in the classroom or ...

Month of Thanks

Image
Its November!  Where did the summer (and fall for that matter) go???   Imagine my surprise when I logged onto my account and realized that the last blog I posted was in May!  And I had no excuse as I'd written about Our Wedding, and never posted it. So today, I plan to rectify that. November--the Month of Thanks, and I have so much to be thankful for.  For starters, each and every one of you who take the time to read my posts.  I truly appreciate it.  I'm also thankful for my amazing family, Care More Chiropractic, my Chiro family, my health...  I could go on and on. When I got married last September I promised I'd share the pictures.  And, with it being the Month of Thanks, I figure this is the perfect opportunity to share them. So in honor of Thanks, I am sharing the post I forgot I wrote, and some of my favorite wedding pictures.  As for the album...  Soon!  I've almost unpacked and organized all of my crafting supplies....
