Image
Back-to-school season can bring rushed mornings, heavier backpacks, changing routines, and plenty of stress for both kids and parents. At Care More Chiropractic in Roswell, GA, we see how quickly busy school schedules can affect the way families feel and function. Eat the Frog It was sitting on my to-do list. For months. Not weeks. Months. Every time I looked at it, I felt that little twinge of dread, that "ugh, I'll do it tomorrow" feeling. It lived rent-free in my brain, whispering that I was behind, behind, behind. And last week? I finally did it. It took less than five minutes. Less. Than. Five. Minutes. I literally sat there after I finished thinking: How many months did I carry that weight for a five-minute task? How much mental energy had I spent avoiding it instead of just doing it? Welcome to August, moms. If you're feeling that, you're not alone. Back to School + The Frog Effect We're in that chaotic energy season. New school clot...

If you’ve heard the phrase “sitting is the new smoking,” it’s not just a catchy headline—it’s a clinical reality I’ve seen play out over 25 years in practice.   Many people wait until the pain becomes unbearable before seeing a chiropractor. But the truth is, your body often gives early warning signs that something isn’t functioning the way it should. At Care More Chiropractic in Roswell, Georgia, we help patients recognize those signs early—so they can address the root cause, not just the symptoms. If you’ve been wondering whether it’s time to see a chiropractor, here are some of the most common signs to look for. 1. Persistent Neck or Back Pain This is one of the most common reasons people seek chiropractic care. If you’re experiencing: Ongoing stiffness Sharp or dull discomfort Pain that worsens with movement …it may indicate restricted spinal motion or irritation affecting the nervous system. 2. Frequent Headaches or Migraines Many headaches actually originate from the neck. Poor posture, stress, and tension can contribute to: Tension headaches Migraines Pressure at the base of the skull Improving spinal movement and reducing tension...

Building Better Habits in 2024

Can you believe we've stepped into another year already? It's crazy how time flies, but the good news is that it's never too late to hit the reset button and make positive changes in our lives. If you read my previous blog, you know that my Word for 2024 is Habits.  So, let's dive into the wonderful world of habits and explore some simple yet powerful changes we can embrace in 2024. 1.  Morning Rituals  They say the way you start your day sets the tone for the rest of it. So why not make your mornings count? Whether it's a calming cup of tea, a quick meditation session, or a brisk morning walk, find what resonates with you. Trust me; those extra few minutes in the morning can make a world of difference throughout your day. 2.Tech Detox Hours In a world that's increasingly connected, it's crucial to unplug and unwind. Consider designating specific hours in the day for a tech detox. Put that smartphone away, turn off those notifications, and engage...

My One Word for 2024

As the dawn of a new year arrives, many of us embark on a quest for personal growth, setting resolutions and intentions that promise a brighter and more fulfilling future. In the tapestry of my aspirations for 2024, one word emerged as the guiding star of my journey: "Habits." In this blog post, I unravel the reasons behind choosing habits as my overarching theme for the year and explore the profound impact it can have on my life. The Power of Consistency: Habits, by their very nature, are a testament to the power of consistency. I've come to realize that the small, seemingly inconsequential actions we repeat daily are the building blocks of the life we lead. Whether it's the discipline of a morning routine, the commitment to regular exercise, or the dedication to lifelong learning, habits are the architects of lasting change. Self-Reflection and Intentionality: Picking habits as my theme for 2024 signifies a commitment to self-reflection and intentionality. It'...

Soup’s On: The Bone Broth Edition

Image
Bone broth is a food that I love to recommend and its a topic that has become more mainstream in recent years.   Today I’m going to share with you why I love making, eating, and recommending bone broth.   My name is Dr Kristen Welsh.   I am a Chiropractor, I am a mom to 2 young children, and I've spent a considerable amount of time healing my gut.   About a decade ago, while I was struggling with gut issues, I discovered (thanks too many great resources, blogs, and colleagues) Bone Broth.   So what exactly is Bone Broth?   It is simply the liquid produced by boiling bones in water.   Virtually any type of bones can be used—I’ve used everything from left over bones from a whole chicken or turkey to beef bones purchased expressly for making broth.   Personally—if we eat food with bones (whole chickens, turkey, bone in steaks & roasts) I will freeze the bones until I’m ready to use them.   Bone broth is different from stock or broth in that ...

Face Masks are becoming a new normal.  More and more people are choosing (or have to) wear them and many stores are requiring customers wear them.   I am also seeing people touch their face masks, trying to pull it down out of their eyes.   If you keep touching your face mask, then anything on your fingertips will be transferred to the mask.   Here is a quick tip to keep your mask out of your eyes so you don't need to touch it!  In health,  Dr. Kristen

Mindset: The Missing Magic

We have set our goals, now what?   What can we do to make sure we are successful?   It’s been my experience that there is one thing that can make or break our goals:   Mindset.   When I think of mindset and goals, the first thing that comes to mind is the quote, “wether you think you can or you think you can’t, you’re probably right.”  Mindset, belief, faith—call it what you will but it is, what I like to call, the missing magic in goal setting,   There are also little things that we can do and say that have a huge impact on mindset.  First is the power of our words.  As Yoda says, “Do or do not, there is no try.”  Think about it, when you make a commitment to someone which is the one you’re actually going to do, the one when you say, “I will try and be there”. Or “I will be there.”  The second of course!  When we say try, we are building in an excuse for failure, for not making it happen.  This parlays beautiful...
