My One Word for 2024

As the dawn of a new year arrives, many of us embark on a quest for personal growth, setting resolutions and intentions that promise a brighter and more fulfilling future. In the tapestry of my aspirations for 2024, one word emerged as the guiding star of my journey: "Habits." In this blog post, I unravel the reasons behind choosing habits as my overarching theme for the year and explore the profound impact it can have on my life. The Power of Consistency: Habits, by their very nature, are a testament to the power of consistency. I've come to realize that the small, seemingly inconsequential actions we repeat daily are the building blocks of the life we lead. Whether it's the discipline of a morning routine, the commitment to regular exercise, or the dedication to lifelong learning, habits are the architects of lasting change. Self-Reflection and Intentionality: Picking habits as my theme for 2024 signifies a commitment to self-reflection and intentionality. It'...

Soup’s On: The Bone Broth Edition

Bone broth is a food that I love to recommend and its a topic that has become more mainstream in recent years.   Today I’m going to share with you why I love making, eating, and recommending bone broth.   My name is Dr Kristen Welsh.   I am a Chiropractor, I am a mom to 2 young children, and I've spent a considerable amount of time healing my gut.   About a decade ago, while I was struggling with gut issues, I discovered (thanks too many great resources, blogs, and colleagues) Bone Broth.   So what exactly is Bone Broth?   It is simply the liquid produced by boiling bones in water.   Virtually any type of bones can be used—I’ve used everything from left over bones from a whole chicken or turkey to beef bones purchased expressly for making broth.   Personally—if we eat food with bones (whole chickens, turkey, bone in steaks & roasts) I will freeze the bones until I’m ready to use them.   Bone broth is different from stock or broth in that ...

Easy Homemade Apple Sauce

I love fall in Roswell, Georgia!  The days are warm, the nights are cool and there is so much to see a do.  Pumpkin patches, apple picking, corn mazes and hay rides.  These were all things on my daughters Fall Bucket List.  Lexi's Bucket List also included making apple sauce.  I love making apple sauce with fresh picked apples from Ellijay, but with 2 kids--one a toddler, the thought of picking apples…. Enter the Farmers Market!  Fresh apples AND I can make smaller batches, which means no canning! It also means my daughter who LOVES to cook (she has her own you tube channel!!!) gets to cook every week!  Today I’m going to share our 2021 recipe for Apple Sauce.  It’s easy.  It’s fast.  It has no added sweeteners.  And we use the instant pot!  My old recipe is buried somewhere in a box in the storage unit and it tasted like apple pie filling!  It contained an array of spices and apples dumped in a crock pot to cook for sever...
